Condolences

Condolence From: Bea Grau
Condolence: My sincere condolences to the family of Arden Walker. To know him was to love him! He was a very special teacher, advisor, and friend. I will always cherish a "well-worn" cook book that Bob and I received as a wedding gift in 1952 from Arden & Fern, signed: Best wishes for a Happy Marriage! (remember Bea! You have to feed the "brute"!} A sweet example of his unique sense of humor. He will always be fondly remembered!

Condolence From: R. R.
Condolence: Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer. “I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” (Acts 24:15)

Condolence From: Jimmy Moore
Condolence: I was very sorry to read that Arden passed away. My family sold Arden and Fern their lake property when they first came to Lake Hartwell …. and I subsequently sold Ron his property. Through the years we all had the highest regard for Arden and his family. He was always very kind and gentle to me …. when my father died in 1993 and again when my Mom died in 2004. To all of your family, I am sincerely sorry for your loss. Treasure the memories of both Arden and Fern. I look forward to seeing you Ron and the rest of your family at Arden's service.

Condolence From: Alvin and Nancy Striggow
Condolence: Our most sincere condolences on the passing of a great friend, advisor, and principal to our Class of 1950. He was an enormous influence to many Whitmer graduates. He and his wife attended many of our class reunions, the most recent being our 2009 Class of 1950 reunion when he was 90 years old. We corresponded with Mr. Walker by mail, telephone, and visits to his home in Hartwell, Georgia. Northwest Ohio and Southeastern Michigan folk are disappointed that his obituary was not published in The Toledo Blade...only a notice of death.

Condolence: Arden's family has our sincere condolences. He was a very special part of our Highschool years as a class advisor. He was a mentor, a friend and advisor and cared for us very much. We enjoyed his presence following our graduation when he and Fern would attend our class reunions whenever they could. Memories of him are very warm.

Condolence From: Louie & Sandy Walker Family
Condolence: With sadness, we say goodbye to Uncle Arden, who held an important place in our family. He kept in contact with us, welcomed us into his home for visits and shared family anecdotes and history with us at each opportunity. Each year as the holidays came around, we looked forward to his annual letter, sitting down with a cup of coffee to read and enjoy his news and perspective. He truly was an example of a life well-lived, we will miss his presence in this life and look forward to his hearty laugh once again in the afterlife. To his sisters, children, grand-children and great-grandchildren, we extend our sympathy and hope it comforts you to know that you were the treasures of his heart as he spoke so lovingly of you all.

Condolence From: Don Haskell
Condolence: I am saddened by Arden's passing. He was a friend and mentor throughout those formulative high school years during the period 1946-1950, and I will always have fond memories of him. We kept in touch for many, many years and had a delightful time catching up with what's gone on in our lives when my wife and I traveled to Hartwell from Oregon to visit a few years ago. We send our heartfelt condolences to Arden's family.
