Mr. William Ray Jones, age 80 of Canon, Ga., entered into rest Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Open Arms Hospice (McCall's Hospice House) in Simpsonville, S.C..
He was born April 20, 1937 in Seneca (Oconee Co.) S.C. to the late William Frank Jones and Maude Galbreath Baker. He was a graduate of Clemson University where he received a masters degree in engineering. Ray was a tool and die engineer in production and manufacturing industries. He was of the baptist faith and a U.S. Navy Veteran. Ray loved to golf and fish and was a member of the Hartwell Golf Club and American Legion Post #109.
He is survived by: his son, Bryan Ray Jones of Arden, N.C., daughter, Cynthia Hinton and her husband, Russell of Inman, S.C. Grandchildren, Savannah McCall (Ryan) of Iva, S.C., and Katelyn Gray (Seth) of Starr, S.C. Great-grandchildren surviving are, Alli Rae McCall, Aubree Gray and Jax Gray. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Ann Outz Jones, and daughters, Beverly Pearson and Susie Dimsdale.
Palbearers will be: Bryan Jones, Seth Gray, Russell Hinton, Ryan McCall, Doug Sudduth and Roger Franks.
Funeral services celebrating Ray's life will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Two o'clock p.m. from the chapel of Coile and Hall Funeral Directors, 333 E. Johnson Street in Hartwell, Ga. Rev. Jerry Gray will officiate. Burial will follow at Townville Baptist Church Cemetery in Townville, S.C., with military honors. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday just prior to the service at the funeral home. The family will be at their respective homes.
